A20 Antutu Benchmarks
« on: July 08, 2013, 08:16:48 PM »
Helloooo everyone

Well today I finally sat and messed with the A20 -  My couple of questions are regarding poor benchmark results in Antutu

Staring with the stock benchmark -  3100  to 3240 looks like a single core used off standard settings.

With the slightly modded build.prop from Leeh33 (thanks dude) Im getting around 4000 +/- a few (cpu1008 MHz (x2))

Now with the modded build.prop of leeh33's and Antutu Cpu master (free) set to either performance and ramping the low freq upto match the high stepping im only getting around 4528  (cpu 1008 MHz (x2))

And using benchmark cpu setting i get 4756 ??

How the hell did leeh33 get around 7000 - I'm completely bemused by such low scores! seen this level with an A13 so im not overly impressed so far - but obviously theres a few things im missing along the way.

Games play fine, and since I re-flashed minecraft works well...  (it would force close before ?? lol i broke something)

I did something, once.... I think.... Hmmm...  Or did I?......  "Geoff, how long have I been here??? Staring into the microwave..."

You need the preinstall.sh too, mate - I have an update to upload soon. ;)

cool, so i need to look at the pre-install too - nice one.

I spotted you were messing with the pre-install to get the 2 cores working from battery alone.

Im not overly confident at the modding yet - so will take baby steps - thanks Leeh33

VERY NICE! I'm intrigued what this firmware has over the other that we've been using. What's the actual running spec of it, Neal (memory free, processor speed, etc.)? :)

Neal ..
If you can  install and run cpu-z

post what core 0  and core 1 are clocking at !

I suspect this batch clocks at 1.2 G and both cores are running ! ... just guessin though

Hmmm, I can attain 6830+ with the CPU locked at 1152MHz. I may look at adding a frequency speed setup that uses a prop setting/writeable file to trigger a set frequency script e.g. freq_speed=X, where X could be, say, from 0-5 and each value triggers a different set of frequency settings. I shall ponder this...:)

Thanks, guys! I have been messing around with the 'real time counter' and a couple of settings of max_user_watches for the counter and for the filesystem. Still a bit more to learn/test, but these are good results for the A20 :)

Hey Satcom  better late than never (Sorry!)

Only clocked to 1056mhz  (1.06 labeled) this is still stock (with root) as I have had no time to play! lol

It scores 5033 plugged in (on charge)

then over 6000 on Battery??

Sometimes the stock processor ramping is wayyyy off on these tablets, and also sometimes AnTuTu doesn't help. It only performs tests in a certain order, and quite often you'll find that running a first test from boot gives WORSE results than a second or subsequenttest. This is because the later tests push the cores, so the ramping kicks in.Then the next test has the optimum core speeds as it begins the test. It's not the most efficient benchmark app ;)

Nice score, Neal! Mine only benched 9315 on 1152MHz, so on 1056MHz it's not far off yours! :)

You know these things start to get real hot as you guys reported, last night while trying to ramp up the Mhz to over 1100, you can fry an egg on the rear case!!

I was thinking -- would it be benificial to cut a hole above the chip -- and drop in a "Northbridge / Southbridge" chip aluminium sink on it... It may be proud at the rear of the tablet but for testing purposes etc, the tablet always and will always stay in its £land stand LOL

I'm torn as to flash this F/ware off as I have no copy of it, just a ROM pull. (and ashamedly I have to admit I have "Never" got an Uberizer ROM dump to flash back successfully)

I suppose I could create the image using the 1.2 f/ware and make a hybrid in Dragon face -- I'm off work tomorrow and all I have planned is ANDROID!! lol  I need a break for CSS and Open Cart  :) :)

Leeh33 - your scores are awsome buddy - I wish I could understand the OS' nutts and bolts sooo much better, like yourself, sometimes Its a random hit and miss proccess -- and this 1.3 F/ware will boot loop on me soon I'm sure! So i should start working on this 1.3 f/ware img really!

Take it easy buddy --  Next time you'll be hitting 10k!!

[see the post above your last one]

Surprisingly, running with an overclocked DRAM seems to keep the processor cooler...

Here's the back of mine, Neal:

It has some drill holes above the A20 chip to let some of the heat dissipate out. The case is a trap for heat, as there's no easy way for it to escape and the plastic acts as an insulator.
