Help Me Identify My Tablet (baby steps please)
« on: October 12, 2012, 08:00:31 PM »
Hi everyone,
I am totally new to the tablet world, but I'm not afraid of a challenge.
I was given a "Hipstreet" HS-7DTB3-4GB, it won't boot. The previous owner said it did boot, but was stored for quite some time and the battery was completely dead when I received the tablet. I charged it up and turned it on, i get 3 screens...Hipstreet, then small white text that says ANDROID and then a third screen that as well says ANDROID but in a different font and waves of light pass over the text (appears to not be freezing that way) but that is all I get.
I have had the tablet open, there appears to be no internal sc card, but there is an external slot. This tablet also has HDMI capabilities.
Is it possible to reinstall the OS like we do aPC ? If so, how do I know the correct version to use, and....will someone walk me through it, maybe there is a tutorial ? I think my biggest worry is to get the correct software.
Thanks TONS !

great thanks ..that is the  REAL model #
now look at the cpu .... what does it say  Infotmic or something like that?
Do you have an HDMI mini or full size hdmi port ..

If you have an hDMI port then your choices are limited at what you can flash ..

Do you have a capactive touch screen?  (the spec i found says yes)

What Android was it running before  it quit   ... Android  2.3.3 or Android 4.0.3

Thanks .. this is not the standard m799ca that we typically support .. however we do have have a ca  stock roms that may work on your tablet .. here is link to rom ..  again i stress read and heed make sure that this rom fits your tablet ..

using wrong firmware on these types of tabs will surely lead to a non recoverable bricked tablet

Thanks !!! I will look it over on the weekend. The tablet doesn't work now, so if it is rendered useless the upside is that it won't be haunting me any longer !

Thanks again for the help

OK, so I downloaded from the link, and extracted the files to my desktop. Inside the extracted files are 2 more zipped files, do I unzip these as well ?

yes you need to unzip those .. and now you will have to research as this one flashes by totally different methods other than the ones we support ..and i am not familiar  with how this one flashes .. perhaps there is documentation in the file on how to do it ...

So far , sadly it hasn't. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but I researched and read about how to format sd card (which worked) and then it said to copy my files to the sc card, which I did...and boot the tablet with the sd card installed. it doesn't do anything, same boot sequance as when I started. I'm going to try from scratch again tonight :)

possible solutions for flashing-

1) winhex start sector to sd card   please read this

2) 3 finger salute  see this

3) here is another to research (infotmic m009f) http://www.techknow.t0xic.nl/forum/index.php?topic=560.msg2634#msg2634

4) connect through adb via usb/cp

#4 is not a known way for infotmics but you have a different device than any of us on staff have so i am listing possible variations for you to test
