Thanks, smyrfcheto - could you please also try whether moved apps work after a reboot, and whether you can power off-remove SD-power on (presumably apps won't work now)-power off-replace SD-power on and if they work again? :)

Thanks leeh33. I have a question though. I have been using a modified vold.fstab on my Alpha 2 using 2.3.4. I can't get the label to change. I can still see the old internal under /mnt/extsd let me use the abpve as an example.

original
Code: [Select]
dev_mount sdcard /mnt/sdcard auto /devices/virtual/block/nandi
dev_mount extsd /mnt/extsd auto /devices/platform/sunxi-mmc.1/mmc_host /devices/platform/sunxi-mmc.0/mmc_host

so I change to

Code: [Select]
dev_mount sdcard /mnt/sdcard auto /devices/platform/sunxi-mmc.1/mmc_host /devices/platform/sunxi-mmc.0/mmc_host
dev_mount skypad /mnt/extsd auto /devices/virtual/block/nandi

but when I use a file manager i don't see skypad under root, but I can see it under /mnt/extsd. If I change it back I can see /extsd under root. Am I bass ackwards somewhere?

Why 'skypad', rabid1? Why not just call it 'extsd', as we've done here? Try it, and it may work fine for you too. Messing with vold.fstab is a risky thing, and best not to change too much or she won't like it :android-lol:!

The vold.fstab file for 2.3.4 and 4.0.3 are different. Post the whole file. Do you have the same problem like mines? And why your extsd is called skypad? What are the two directories in /mnt . Write the name for the SDCARD and for the EXTSD. Are they the same as mine sdcard and extsd?

Good point! Yes, we need the lines from the 2.3.4 vold.fstab to sort this out! Thanks, smyrfcheto! :)

Lol. It is a Skypad Alpha 2 and it was a request for a ROM I am building. I wanted to leave it as extsd, but people were requesting Skypad like the Pandigital does PD_Supernova. But I noticed when I make the Skypad change it does show up as Skypad on the drive label when you connect to the PC via USB, so maybe that will be good enough for them. but here are the lines

Code: [Select]
dev_mount sdcard /mnt/sdcard auto /devices/platform/awsmc.1/mmc_host /devices/platform/awsmc.0/mmc_host

dev_mount skypad /mnt/extern_sd auto /devices/virtual/block/nandh

Swap them like this:
Code: [Select]
dev_mount  skypad /mnt/extern_sd auto /devices/platform/awsmc.1/mmc_host /devices/platform/awsmc.0/mmc_host

dev_mount sdcard /mnt/sdcard auto /devices/virtual/block/nandh

and it should have the same effect as what we've done here. Is this what you mean?

Actually I should have said that was the edited version I posted. But I think since it does show the label "skypad" when connected to USB that should be good enough. Didn't mean to hijack this thread, but thanks!!

I did do this to my T02a and my Alpha 2 ICS now and have tried swapping multiple microsd with no issues.

It is very good that we solved this problem because in almost all of the tablets Like mine have the same problem, but form now on it is o.k . It will be better for developers of Stock Roms or Custom roms to do it like here is written.

My scripting is just shy of awful, but I might work on a script that would switch back and forth in the ROM I am working on. There are some users who even with a 4GB card do not use microsd (which is crazy as cheap as they are now days). I had an old 8650 with a script like that maybe I can find that and adapt it. Thanks again guys.
