Confusion...
« on: February 09, 2012, 07:07:58 PM »
Sorry if a topic already exist, but I had a question. I've bought this tablet from the  Mcbub web site:
 http://www.mcbub.com/item/---Free-Shipping-Via-AirMail----VIA-WM-8650-7---Tablet-PC-Android-2-2-Camera-WIFI-3G-Flash-10-1-MID-epad-Silver-140900/

I know that my tablet is compatible with the v10.1 of uberoid, but I don't if it's really a VIA WM8650 because the customer service was asking me all those questions about what's the label and the version of their own product... so I figured that they have no clue of what they're selling.

Is there a way to know what model it is ?

Thank you.

Sorry English is not my first language.

well look at the web page  it does say something about m009s  i bought one from them some time ago so it may have changed .. but yes it was a wm8650 and mine worked best with option 8  via refers to who made the cpu ..  if you are running v 10.1 okay then be assured u do have a 8650 cpu

Well, was thinking it could be, 11=VIA WM8650 7" that I've found in the compability section of the forum... Also, on my box where the tablet came, it says MID.... So i'm really confused... :con1:

Is there a way via the tablet to know exactly which one it is (like in the settings ?)

Thanks for your help by the way.

I have the VIAWM8650 (supposely), vibrate yes, green LED running, red LED charging, 256MB, 2 GB NAND. Considering that yours does not vibrate, I guess it's safe to say that they changed their product...

well MID simply means Mobile Internet Device ..  and yes your tab could very well be an option 11 .. or 8 or 30 .. just depends on the combination of touch controller, wifi, sound chip the  manufacturer used in your tablet ..  again via simply makes the cpu .. totally different vendors actually assemble the tablet.    Which option did u use by the way for uberoid 10.1?

Well, actually, I haven't tried it yet because I'm waiting for a micro SD card in order to flash the tablet... so I'll let you know when I try it.

Thank you for your help again.

hi there,

I got the same model from the same supplier. Since I have updated my touch sensor is no longer working (as well as the sound-chip and the sound "-" button). Wlan is working and I can use an external mouse.

I´ve tried multiple options yet and many different settings/combinations  in the env_boot and in the default_prop.  Nothing works.

Apparently the factory firmware was build 1.5.1. The tablets have an quality control label that either says "A03" or "G4". Mine ist "A03".

The customer service at Mcbub asked me if I had the A4 or 4G, but unfortunately I removed the sticked because I didn't think that it was important for an eventual flash with a custom ROM...  :erm:

Anyways, I hope I don't brick it... I'll take precautions like making a backup, etc...

My tablet works prefectly fine except for the WI-FI. Sometimes it just dosen't connect even if I'm very close to the wireless router.... Is this normal ? I dont know if this helps, but evrytime I empty the cache, it takes less time for it to connect.

lucky you! I think I ´ve "bricked" my MID, cause I´ve used every possible option / setting. Besides that I was quite statisfied with that tablet and the company (mcbub) I bought it from.

Hey rancoon,

if all the options fail, it could be the SD card having some problems, try a format fat32 and try option 30 for example, what does that ? Do you have the bootanimation stuck (10mins+==stuck), black screen? Have you tried the reset pinhole?

Sorry for all the questions, you might consider them as suggestions to fix the tablet :)

Good luck,

HcH

I've tried option 7 and 11 and it would get stuck, but I waited at least 5 min to see if it booted... With option 30, I waited like 6 minutes before it actually booted. Try waiting at least 10-15 min with these options. If not, then I don't know if there is a way to unbrick it... check the forum, you might find someone who did.

BTW, is there any suggestions for the WI-FI problem ? Thanks.

Hi Toltecalt87.

For any wlan problems, you can try the factory reset trick as described by VIP Robotop here: http://www.techknow.t0xic.nl/forum/index.php?topic=929.0

Or reflash using a different rt3070 set

Hi HcH,
I tried the solution given by Robotop and it didn't work. FOr some reason I think only option 30 (uberoid V11b3 and v10.1) seems to work with my WM8650 VIA. The wifi still works but has that bad habit of not connecting even if it has a "fair" signal reception. I have to be near the wireless source (the "excellent" signal reception).

Why does it disconnect ? Is there a way to fix it manually in the emulator console ?

Ok... My tablet's Wifi just stopped working at of a sudden... It finds the connection but does not link to it or dosen't stay connected for more than like 30 seconds and just restarts itself... the rt3070 option in the flashing process didn't do anything...
Help me plz !

Eidt: BTW, it was working yesterday... I could connect to my university wifi no problem.

This doesn't bode well for me; same boat, same vendor, same timeframe for shipping, same Uberoid option worked.  I think my only current issue is Pandora [it loads, but never plays song - skip/ TU/TD all visible but all else black], but I hope it doesn't follow through to the problems you're having.

[edit - finding an older version of the pandora apk fixed that one, so i'm currently stable and happy with the little tab...]

Question: The build of the stock ROM was 1.5.5, but in changer.bat, option 30 says: M009SBDT 1.5.3 7". Does that have something to do with my WIFI problem ?

I doubt if the  base version is the cause  especially when u posted this yesterday:

Yea you're right ! But I found out  what was the problem ! Finally. I just had to empty the cache with the cache app that comes with uberoid v11b3. I had to check the box where it says something about "power empty" and BAM it worked this morning !

I don't know if this could be helpful for others.

To all who helped me, thx.

LOL I thought I fixed the problem but it's back ! But now I know that it's my router, because I tried another tablet and the wifi works perfectly (a Flytouch 2 or 3). Somehow, my VIA WM8650 and my router don't like each other... My router is a Linksys WRT350N: configured with a WPA security, B-G only.

Is there a solution to this ?

Yea I tried WPA2 and it dosen't work... What I find weird is that my wifi works when my battery is fully charged, but after, it starts to disconnect... I know it sounds weird but that's what's happening...

hehe I know, it's weird. I really tried lots of stuff like changing the values in STA2870.DAT and it worked for a moment then it got back to disconnecting. I also tried different options, but only 30 works correctly (minus wifi), emptied the cache with cachemate (with powerclear) and it worked for a while then disconnected again. I tried apps that would "boost" my wifi but to no avail. I know that it's a security issue (with my router) because it connects when there is no security. I tried with another tablet (Flytouch 2 or 3 10" SAWEE10) and it connects to my router. So really I'm flabbergasted by this... I really don't know what to do anymore...  I'll try to set it with a WEP to see if it works... but the funny thing is that it used to work with the stock rom no problem.

Update: Ok, It works with a WEP security, no problem. It really dosen't work with a WPA/WPA2 type of security. I'm just gonna let it be for the time being, but I hope a fix comes out soon !

Can you tell us where you found it, I have the same problem! :-{ :android-question:

try google search for pandora.apk   there is a site that list almost all versions of a particular app
